Who Should Attend
Persons who have attended a First Aid at Work course, or Appointed Persons course and will have access to an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). If you have or are intending to get an AED then this course is essential.
Course Duration
This is a 1/2 day course for up to 12 delegates.
Course Objectives
To refresh the basic resuscitation skills of the First aider and to extend their abilities in the chain of survival beyond the basic ABC’s of First aid (Airway-Breathing-CPR). The candidates will be taught the safe use of an AED, including preparation of the casualty, basic maintenance and record keeping.
Course Content
Course content includes the following:
- Introduction / registration / welcome
- Primary / secondary assessments of casualty
- CPR techniques
- Preparation of casualty for De-fibrillation
- Using the Defibrillator
- Maintenance and recording
- Assessment of competence
- Course debrief
Certification
On successful completion of the course the candidate will receive a certificate in defibrillation, which will be valid for 1 year.
